I used to struggle with getting rid of incorrect pronunciation before I met Abby

I am not a young learner. I only started studying English seriously at the age of around 28. As you can imagine, having an accent could be a pain in the neck for me. I used to struggle with getting rid of incorrect pronunciation before I met Abby. She has been helping me a lot with it and I can truly see my improvement.

Why is she so good at this? In my opinion, firstly, she is originally from Taiwan and she speaks perfect Mandarin, which means she knows how we use our tongue and mouth to pronounce Chinese words (I find that our mouths move differently when we speak English and Chinese), and she can observe what we are struggling with when we try to speak English in the wrong ways.

Secondly, because she knows how we use our mouth to speak, she can try to find similar sounds in Chinese to compare with the sounds in English and try to help us understand how to produce the right sound as much as possible.

Thirdly, she looks carefully at the movement of our mouth when we speak and teaches us patiently.
