Describe Abby as an instructor.

Several months ago, I wanted to prepare TOEFL exam by myself. Learning in cram school is not suitable for me. Before I asked for Abby’s help, I borrowed and read some books about TOEFL exam form library. I also listened some audio books. But I found that I need an instructor to help me in speaking and writing essay. Abby is an excellent instructor. She is so kind and patient during the guiding process. She insisted that I should find the mistake by myself instead of giving me the answer directly. I had felt frustration when I couldn’t find the mistake. Abby always encourages me and gives me the hint. She is so patient and inclusive of my repeating mistakes (I didn’t mean to make the same mistakes repeatedly but I haven’t have the right habit of using English.). I learned that I should be as patient as Abby is. Improving English skills wouldn’t happen within several days. But be patient and keep going, then the magic will happen, just as Abby had said.

I had read BuBu’s books. I knew Abby a little from her books. I believed that Abby would be an excellent instructor. (She really is.)

Describe how you used to learn English before joining us & how have things changed since then

Abby taught me how to use English-English dictionary in right way. I felt I learned English again just as a child in Taiwan learned Chinese. I relied on “google” to check the gramma error and find the word before. It is inefficiency. Now I know how to find the right usage of a word in English-English dictionary. I can also double check the meaning of a word from the English-English dictionary if it is exactly expressed my thought.

What is it like to learn in this online community and how is this experience different from classes you’ve attended before?

I got individual help through Bespoke Assignments. When I was a student, if I sent my essay to the teacher then I would get a polished article back. I got the answers fast and directly. But sometime I can’t realize why I should modify the sentence like that way. The biggest difference in Bespoke Assignments is that I should find the answer by myself. Actually, it is a hard and boring process. However, after persisting work with Abby, I can feel the great improvement and I can remember the right usage of English.

What would you say are the big benefits of joining this membership?

Abby would point out where is the mistake in a sentence. I should fix the mistake and explain the reason. During the process, I gradually knew my weak point in English. I learned how to check the sentence by myself and use English in right way.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

If you felt boring and frustrating, it is a normal reaction. Just take a rest and keep going, you will see the improvement. Studying is never a easy thing but you will get the sense of achievement if you keep working with Abby.
