A Taste of English Ever After

Reading “The Pomegranate” with Abby

In this live session, we discussed Eavan Boland’s poem, “The Pomegranate”. You can hear my reading of the poem here on Youtube.

Here’s a little English Puzzle video that takes a closer look at a line from the poem: “the French sound for apple & the noise of stone”. If you are curious about what these words mean, then you should definitely watch this quick video!

So often in our lives, we come across words that seem to be so simple and easy to understand, yet somehow, when we put them together, the meaning becomes hard to grasp!  is a place where you can get answers to the burning questions you have about the English language. It is a place where you can point to every confusing detail and get clarity!

We began the workshop by covering the poet’s background, then went on to discuss the story of Persephone from Greek mythology, and finally, we read the poem line by line in order to understand what it really means.

What you see in the video above is a concentrated sample of a live session in English Ever After. The recording of each session is made available in the community, so members can watch the replay (if they miss the live meeting) or revisit the material at any time.

Live Sessions

Every month, we have two live sessions in (my membership community). There are various kinds of live sessions:

Workshops where I teach you something about the English language.
=> This particular session was a workshop that covered the reading of a poem in detail.

Interviews where I handpick a member from English Ever After or an expert from elsewhere to discuss a topic with the goal of bringing English to life.

Presentations where a fellow member teaches you about a topic about which he/she has expertise.

Q&A where you can ask me questions on air or pre-submit them, and we chat in detail.

Practice Sessions
where we work specifically on a topic previously covered in a workshop.

Discussion Sessions
where we discuss pre-announced topics.

We meet twice a month online using Zoom, a video conference service that is free for everyone to download. It can be used on any kind of device, so you can join us from your laptop, tablet or phone.
